The effect of photobleaching on PLIF
نویسنده
چکیده
Organic dyes commonly used for planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) are susceptible to photobleaching under laser excitation. Previous work has shown that photobleaching can induce significant errors in laser-induced fluorescence measurements made with single-point techniques. This paper presents an analytical model and experimental results that quantify the extent of photobleaching in the more common planar configuration of the technique. Experimental results for two common dyes, fluorescein and Rhodamine 6G, agree well with analytical predictions for typical PLIF parameters. Results indicate that even dyes such as fluorescein that have large photobleaching constants can be used with little error in many PLIF experiments.

Introduction During the process photodynamic therapy (PDT), bleaching of photosensitizer induced by irradiation and generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) can provide some information concerning the efficiency of treatment. Since gold nanoparticles (GNPs) have been highlighted as efficient drug delivery systems, in this study, by utilizing GNPs conjugated with 5 aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA-...

A technique is presented for measuring velocity, density and scalar transport in a buoyant rotating gravity current. Existing methods for combined PIV and PLIF are modified for use in a stratified flow on a rotating table and strategies for beam alignment, index of refraction matching, surface tension matching and photobleaching correction are presented. In addition, the PIV–PLIF technique is m...

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) as a complicated and progressive neurodegenerative disorder is the most common form of dementia and memory loss. On account of the multifactorial etiology of AD, the multi-target-directed ligand (MTDL) approach is a promising method in searching new drug candidates for this disease. Here, in this paper more than 500 tacrine-coumarin hybrids have been designed and drug-l...

Dichloroacetate (DCA) is a simple and small anticancer drug that arouses the activity of the enzyme pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) through inhibition of the enzyme pyruvate dehydrogenase kinases (PDK1-4). DCA can selectively promote mitochondria-regulated apoptosis, depolarizing the hyperpolarized inner mitochondrial membrane potential to normal levels, inhibit tumor growth and reduce proliferati...
